Griffith University’s Karen Crawley, Julian Meyrick, Sarah Joseph and Samid Suliman work across arts and law disciplines. This workshop aims to explore the extent to which the political economy of the arts shapes freedom of artistic expression, and the possible need for alternative models of arts funding and support to provide for more robust protection of artistic autonomy. The workshop, presented under Chatham House rules, will forge cross-disciplinary connections and collaborations on these important issues. A white paper will be created for public release, which we will work on collectively during the final session.
